Charlotte Harbor Estuary and Environs

 

The Charlotte Harbor estuary and environs is harbored by several small islands and offers a variety of homes from gulf front, canal or off water. To find out what is happening in the area, there are two newspaper's that provide coverage of local news, weather, and events: the Herald Tribune and the Sun-Herald.

The area offers a wide range of recreational activities that come with miles of unspoiled beach, world-class fishing, power boating, canoeing, Kayaking and sailing. Additionally, you will find numerous beaches, golf courses, tennis clubs, and bike trails, as well as arts and entertainment to suit any taste. The local Englewood-Cape Haze Chamber of Commerce is an excellent resource for locating local businesses and resources.

ManasotaBeach boasts 14 acres of gulf front beach and sand dunes with special areas set-aside for sheltered tables, barbecue pits, boardwalks and bathhouse facilities

Blind Pass Beach is ideal for swimming, fishing and has more than 60 acres of nature trails.  There's a docking area for boaters on the Intra Coastal Waterway.

EnglewoodBeach offers recreation areas, boardwalk, picnic tables, and concession stands as well as conveniently located nearby restaurants, shops, and nightclubs.  

Walking south from Englewood Beach is Stump Pass Beach ; a narrow strip of beach that offers anglers a great place to fish.

Golf Courses:

The Palms is Rotonda's second 18-Hole par 72 championshipcourse. Golfer's are astounded by its five finishing holes, which include six different water hazards, multi-tiered greens, and two of Florida's most demanding holes, the 15th & 16th, back to back.. This course is well designed with four sets of tees that challenge all skill levels.

The Hills is a 18-Hole par 72 championship course in the Oakland Hills community. This course is heavily dotted with well placed water hazards, it is a true test of accuracy and course management skills.

The Links - The Links is a 18-Hole Executive length golf course in the Cape Haze community. Water comprises 35 of the 80 acres of land with an assortment of grassy hollows, pot bunkers, multi-fingered sand traps, and triple tiered greens to force players to use precise club selection and exacting skills.

Oyster Creek Golf & Country Club - This unique layout by Ted McAnlis offers a significant challenge to golfers of every level. Ten out of the eighteen holes are parallel to water hazards or have a water hazard in front view. The bunkers are strategically placed to make each shot a thoughtful procedure. The amenities include a restaurant, pro shop, putting green and chipping area.

The Charlotte Harbor and surrounding area offers several paved bike trails through the estuary and environs. Offering beautiful rides upto 6.5 miles long. We have bookmarked the maps below for our local area, but once you open them you can scroll through many bike trail maps throughout the state of Florida.
